Slow Progress
Small milestones are verbally celebrated frequently so that students can learn how to look back and see how far they have come over periods of time. This encourages a growth mindset early on that reinforces a can-do attitude. By being able to recognize slow progress, students build a thirst for lifelong learning.

Boredom
Boredom is inevitable and is like stretching a muscle. Some boredom can be curbed by changing up the activity with a warm up, a drill, or by allowing your child to simply be bored for a moment and take the time to offer a listening ear or simply be silly. Children don't need more rigidity after a day at school, they need a chance to be themselves.

Fear of Failure
Fear is a natural emotion that all humans have to live with, including children. The key is to push past feelings of fear and work to achieve goals anyway. Fear is another muscle we must put pressure on and then release. If the stakes feel too high for a student in a lesson, Stephanie will recognize this and adjust. Remaining flexible, open, and willing in the face of fear is what really allows students to grow.
Testimonials
Here's what parents are saying about Stephanie

"My 7-year-old daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Miss Stephanie since this past summer. We found many music schools who would not give my daughter lessons because she was under 9 years old. Steph was willing to work with her, and we started on a basis of feeling out how long my daughter could handle, attention wise and finger strength wise, and we happily discovered that she was able to focus and play for an hour lesson.
Steph is engaging, friendly, encouraging and warm. She is able to help my daughter learn how to play different chords, to transition between chords, hearing the differences between minor and major chords and the way they make us feel (tone and mood). She is able to offer constructive criticism in a way my daughter is open to hearing and that she learns from.
My daughter can be a bit chatty, and Steph manages to indulge her a bit while also refocusing her back to the task at hand! Steph has been flexible with our schedule which I really appreciate. My daughter always looks forward to seeing her, and has even brought my daughter special treats to celebrate her successes!
Finally, a huge bonus for me is that Steph comes to our home. Running around daily to different activities, it is a welcome change having her come to us! I highly recommend Miss Steph if you're looking for someone to motivate and teach your child how to play the guitar! You won't be disappointed!"
